Fourteen-year-old David is thrilled to be spending the summer on his uncle's commercial fishing trawler in the Northern Atlantic.

Once on board, he finds that the men are far more superstitious than David might have imagined. As he searches the meaning behind all the superstitions, David uncovers an even greater mystery about his own past.

Now David has to work his way through all that he has been told to find his own beliefs.
